Have a Ball

It's a good thing I had a crafty weekend LAST weekend, because it's not looking good for this weekend. So many things on the agenda!!  Not to mention I started reading the Outlander Series....Wowza, great book.  I can't put it down and its a HUGE book. I'm not quite sure how I am going to function over the next couple of weeks (or months) because it's a 6, going on 7 book, series.  If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it. It was recommended to me buy numerous people recently and I am very glad that I started it.

Now on to todays card. It's FUN FRIDAY at YNS. This months Fun Fridays theme is Birthdays!

I used Baseball boy from Your Next Stamp today.  Colored with Copic markers. The sentiment is part of the Baseball Boy Set!  So Cute!  I then added some Navy Jute from the Ribbon Carousel.

Thanks for looking today!

I pulled out my little fairy Tilda and colored her with Copic markers. I added a hefty amount of Stardust stickles to her wings.  For our challenge this week I used an embossing folder on the pink cardstock. I added some flowers and Parrot Green Cotton Twill from the Ribbon Carousel.

Now hop on over to the Ribbon Carousel Blog and check out the other Crewmates inspiration and play along with us this week. Remember to use something that comes on a spool!!

Beach Babe

***This is my SECOND post for today, if you are here for the Magnolia-lious Challenge, please scroll down below this one!!  Thank you! ***

Thanks for joining us for another Ribbon Carousel Challenge!
This week our wild and crazy Crewmate Jenny Peterson is serving us up with a dose of crafty inspiration. She is challenging us to make a card with a summer theme!

If you follow my blog you probably already know that I love me some Saturated Canary images. They are fun, sexy and just so darn cute!  I have been waiting for a reason to use this Beachy Themed image from SC.  I used Copics to color her and it was so much fun to color. I loved coloring her hair.

I kept the layout simple using some Candy Necklace Bazzill Cardstock and  DP from the Echo Park Paradise 6x6 paper pad. Completed the look with some  Coral Satin grosgrain Ribbon.

We'd love for you to join us this week! Here are the details:
  • Make your NEW creation following the ribbon carousel challenge of the week. Any submissions made prior to the challenge date will be deleted. Be sure to include some type of ribbon, twine, hemp, lace....basically, anything that comes on a spool.
  • Load your creation up onto your blog or a public viewing forum like Splitcoast Stampers, (use the keyword RCC66) with a direct link back to the RIBBON CAROUSEL BLOG POST. Including the challenge graphic isn't a requirement, but sure is appreciated! (A participant of our very first challenge didn't link back or mention our challenge and couldn't be named Top Spool, so don't let that happen to you!)
Come back the Friday after the challenge ends to see if YOU are a Top Spool!

Hugs,
Tracy Valure

Satin Ribbon Tutorial

Good morning! It's my day today to share a tutorial on the Ribbon Carousel Blog. I was going back and forth on what to share and finally decided to do this cute little Satin Ribbon Flower. It was really quite simple. If you are interested in learning to make it you can see detailed instructions, with PHOTOS, on the Ribbon carousel Blog HERE.
Basically to create this flower all you need is a 15-17" piece of satin ribbon, a piece of sheet adhesive, embellishment for center and a lighter or candle.  You cut slights about 3/4 of way down in 1" increments the length of the ribbon.  Cut about a 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" circle from your adhesive sheet. Starting at the out edge of your adhesive sheet, lay your ribbon down and pleat it as you go around. keep going and spiral it inward towards the center.  Once you finish trim off extra ribbon.  Next your going to lightly burn the edges of the ribbon.  BE CAREFUL! Add your center embellishment and viola....cute, easy flower for your next card!!

The rest of my supplies I used were an image from Some Odd Girl colored with Copic Markers. The cardstock is from Bazzill Cardshoppe, the notched die is My favorite things, the DP is from Kaiser crafts, the button is Bo Bunny and the Plus Satin Grosgrain is from the Ribbon Carousel.

As I said before, if you would like to see detailed step by step instructions along with

***Blog Candy update  - I was busy over the weekend and will annouce the winner of the blog candy in the next day or two.*** Thank you!!

Books like friends.....YNS

Good morning.  Todays challenge at Your Next Stamp is books. I just used that adorable Owl Grad stamp the other day, so I thought I would create a bookmark using this Mini Fiona and Her Pony stamp.  I thought the sentiment worked perfectly with it because I'm sure many riders consider their horses their best friends too.

These little bookmarks are so very simple to make and they come out adorable!  I also used the Flower Fun scallop stamp from YNS too for my matte.  The Sentiment is MFT and I picked up that beautiful Forsythia yellow seam binding from the Ribbon Carousel.

Come on by the YNS Blog and check out the other designers projects and to play along with us.

Happy Birthday - SOG

** If you are here for the YNS Blog hope...Click HERE
** If you are here for my Blog Candy (ends this Friday, August 10) Click HERE

Hello!  I hope everybody's weekend was great. Mine was busy and extremely exhausting. I was busy baking and cooking for my daughters birthday and I had 2 other parties to go to in between that. Needless to say yesterday I think if finally got to me and I am now officially sick. ughhh. Hoping it just from exhaustion and I start feeling better. Until then I plan to lay around and read. I just finished reading The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. Wow...truly amazing she is. I just want to give her a hug! If you haven't read it and if you have ever thought you had a bad childhood....you may not feel that way after reading about hers.

So I will get to this weeks challenge over at Markerpop and then I will share a few pictures from my daughters birthday party. This week's challenge is sponsored by Some Odd Girl and we want to see bright colors.

I also wanted to point out that I used ShinHan Twin Touch markers for this card! MarkerPop now carries Copics and Shinhans, so I thought why not try them out. I had heard some amazing things about them and frequently see some projects around that are amazing. They have a couple other color combos that you just don't quite have with the Copics, which is nice too.

You can also you them in conjunction with your copics. Overall, I have to say I really like them. They go on, work and feel just like Copics do, which is great.  I have tried other markers and I liked them, but I certainly could have never seen myself switch. But with these, if I had to, I definitely wouldn't be sad...they really are nice.

The colors I used are:
Skin: YR132, YR133, BR107
Hair: BR109, BR104, BR94
Pink: RP137, RP9, R18
Blue: PB76, PB183 and PB185

Our challenges at MarkerPop are now running every 2 weeks! So hope that you get an opportunity to play along with us.

Here are a few pictures from this weekend:

In my Thoughts - Saturated Canary

Good morning. First I wanted to remind you, if you haven't signed up for my BLOG CANDY do so soon. It ends next Friday, August 10th.

Today I am sharing with you a card using a Saturated Canary image. Love these images, Krista is one of my favorite artists.

This little one has been done for quite some time now. This is the card that broke my sewing machine too! lol  You can see the stitching isn't quite right, I think the tension was way off. I should just take it in and have it looked at. Instead I went and bought a Janome Sew Mini. I like it, but I like my old one much better. sigh......

Supplies I used were - Copics, Spellbinder Scalloped oval and oval die. Paper is MME. Large scallop and sentiment are from My Favorite Things.

Thanks for looking today and be sure to check out my BLOG CANDY!
